My Findings...

Ive been blogging my opinions about the lovely findings for 23 1/2 andhere is what I think...

I really enjoyed going thru the steps and looking thru different websites that I myself have not come across before... I love to surf the web at home and find myself going to facebook regularly as well as a few other sites...

I had fun writing on this blog & catching up with the tasks for 23 1/2 - it was extremely interesting & enjoyable... I even expressed it to my family at home...

The best part of it was going on Wikipedia - WOW - Ive used it before but just silly surfing found ALOT of things I really didnt know... Yet, NOW I do...

I would hope that with the rate the internet is going - our community should be growing more & more thru the years...

I actually love the fact I can download audiobooks into my iPod & listen to them while I travel - BEST EVER!!!

Now Flickr - I prefer Photobucket but since it was part of our tasks I didnt mind signin up for an account... Its cool but they really need to get a biy upgraded with the codes.. It would be nice...

RSS & Newsreaders & Podcasts - personally I like to veiw them about PC Mechanics & Electronics... So I do encourage people to listen more & make a change - We are definately moving in the technology phase...

I even had a blast messing with the generators... I was sending silly stuff out to friends & they wanted to k now how I was doing it.. So we have followers... AWESOMEEEEEEENESSS!!!

I just want people to open their eyes to the new technology were are coming across - I know some may be intimidated by it, but they need not fear...

I give a PC class at my job & I always tell the customers - Try it you never know where you'll end up...

So I hope people come and enjoy this new found fun...

Wiki's & Web 2.0

Interesting site Wikipedia.. Its really interesting to go thru and find information...

Its our online encyclopedia - all I can say AWESOME!!

About Web 2.0 -
Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.

I couldnt of said it better myself...

You've been X'd... LOL!!

Introduction to Radio Frequency Identification

What is RFID

RFID, short for Rradio Frequency IDentification, is a technology that enables identification of a tag (that is normally attached with an entity) by using electromagnetic waves. The function served by RFID is similar to bar code identification, but line of sight signals are not required for operation of RFID. Important components of an RFID system are:

i. An RFID reader (also called transceiver) with an antenna and a transceiver,

ii. A transponder (Also called a tag) that includes an antenna and a chip)

Compare RFID with Bar Code Technology

Given below are the brief differences between the Barcode technology and RFID:

Parameter
Bar Code
RFID

Frequencies used for tag reading
Optical frequencies
Radio frequencies

Type of communication
Line of sight communication
Non-line of sight communication

Data Volume
Physical limitation exists. It is very difficult to read a very long barcode.
Can carry relatively large volume of data.

Range of data readability
Very limited range, less than a feet or two.
Can be read up to several feet.

Cost
Cheap
Expensive, but likely to cost less as more industries adopt the technology.

Benefits of RFID

The following are the benefits of RFID Systems:

Non-line of sight identification of tags

Unattended operations are possible, minimizing human errors and high cost.

Ability to identify moving elements that have tags embedded.

Larger area of coverage. Up to several feet.

Can be used in diverse environments, including live stock, military, and scientific areas.

RFID can be used in addition to Bar Code. These two technologies can be complementing each other.

Automatic integration with back end software solutions provide end to end integration of data in real time.

Disadvantages of RFID:

i. Expensive compared with Bar code

ii. Bulkier, due to embedding of electronic components in the tag. However, with advanced techniques, it is possible to reduce the size, and weight of the tags to a large extent.

iii. Prone to physical/electrical damage due to environmental conditions. For example, tags that are subjected to space exploration may encounter extreme temperatures. The tags required to be designed for a given application, and may be costly when designed for use under extreme environmental conditions.

Techie News

I found a great website for any techs fascination...

http://slashdot.org

You can find loads of interesting articles on any tech issues & questions...

Keep yourself up-to-date with new software, even down to different operating systems...

Podcasts

I found this little YouTube video about podcasts...

What I normally listen to are podcasts about PC Mechanics.. (just a lil nerdy)
Heres the web site I visit constantly..

You can find other podcasts there that might interest you...
Check it out...
